Teams & Team Restrictions

Teams in Pendulum allow visits to be grouped and managed by specific teams within your Local Authority.

Team restrictions add an extra permission layer, controlling which visits, actions and analysis users can access based on the teams they belong to.

What are Team Restrictions?

Team restrictions allow your LA to control access to Pendulum content by team. When enabled, some users will only be able to view and work with visits assigned to their own teams.

This affects the visibility of:

  • Visits
  • Actions
  • Analysis data
  • Attachments and reports linked to restricted visits

Important: Team restrictions only affect users set up as Pendulum Admins or Visit Managers.

Standard users and Adviser users can only see their own reports regardless of team restrictions. Super Visit Managers can see all visits across the LA, regardless of the teams they belong to.

If team restrictions are disabled, staff can still assign visits to teams for organisational purposes, as long as those teams exist in your system.

To enable team restrictions, please contact nexussupport@angelsolutions.co.uk.

For more information on Pendulum permissions, see our Pendulum Administration & Permissions guide.

When Team Restrictions are enabled

When team restrictions are enabled, Pendulum Admins and Visit Managers can only access visits, actions and analysis linked to the teams they are assigned to.

This means they will no longer see all visits and actions across all establishments in Pendulum or on the school dashboard.

On the Records of Visits tab of a school dashboard, users can still see an overview and audit of visits. However, visits, attachments and reports will only be accessible where the visit is assigned to one of their teams.

When Team Restrictions are disabled

When team restrictions are disabled, Pendulum Admins and Visit Managers can view visit reports, actions and analysis across all schools and teams.

Teams can still be used for organisation and categorisation. For example, staff can assign visits to relevant teams, provided those teams exist in your system.

Creating and managing teams

Pendulum teams are inherited from Nexus user groups.

Users with the Can Manage User Groups Nexus permission can create and manage teams by going to Admin > Teams.

This opens the User Groups page in Nexus. From here, you can create new teams and manage existing ones.

Use the available options to add or remove users from the relevant group.

Note: A user must be in more than one user group to see the Teams options in Pendulum. If a user is only in one group, the Teams options are hidden because everything is automatically visible and assigned to their only team.
