Pendulum allows you to create visit records directly in the system, or prepare content in Microsoft Word and import it using a template.

This guide explains how to start a new visit record in Pendulum and select the basic visit details.

For more information on creating a visit using a Word template, see the Importing a Visit using Microsoft Word guide.

Important: Always use Pendulum in a single browser tab. Creating, editing or deleting visits with multiple tabs open can lead to overwritten information or issues with reports saving.

Creating a visit

You can create a new visit record from most areas of Pendulum by clicking Create New Record.

A window will appear where you can select the basic details for the visit.

Visit details

Before writing the visit record, complete the available options.

Team
Allows you to assign the visit to a team. If your LA uses team restrictions, this controls which group of users can see the visit once it has been saved.

Adviser
Available to Admin users and Visit Managers. This allows them to select the adviser for the visit record. Standard and Adviser users do not see this option and can only create visits for themselves.

Term
Displays the current, previous and following terms.

For example, if the current term is Spring 2026, you may see Spring 2026, Autumn 2025 and Summer 2026, provided those terms have been set up.

Terms are set up by the Nexus Support Team after receiving confirmation from your LA Administrators. If the term you need is missing, contact your LA Admin or nexussupport@angelsolutions.co.uk.

School Groups
Filters the schools shown in the Establishment dropdown to just those within the group.

Establishment
Select the school the visit record is for. You can type into the dropdown to search for a specific school.

Choosing the visit type

Once you have selected a school, choose the type of visit you want to create.

Depending on your Pendulum access, you may be able to select:

  • Create New Focus Visit
  • Create New Other Visit
