Pendulum includes a range of tools to help you review, export and analyse visit information. This guide explains when to use Exports, Export Trends and Keyword Search.
You can access these three areas from your Pendulum toolbar.
Which tool should I use?
Exports
Use this when you need to download visit information based on selected filters, such as adviser, user group, export type or date range.
Export Trends
Use this when you need to compare Focus Visit information over time.
Keyword Search
Use this when you need to find a specific word or phrase within visit records.
Access: Exports and Export Trends are only available to users set up as Visit Manager, Pendulum Admin, or Super Visit Manager. Keyword Search is available to all users with access to Pendulum, although the results shown will depend on your user permissions.
Exports
Use Exports to download visit records that match your selected criteria. This is useful when you need to export visit information for review, reporting or further analysis outside of Pendulum.
Available filters
You can filter the export by options such as:
- Export Type
- Team
- Advisers
- Date range
Important: The date filter is based on the date of the visit record, not the date the visit was added to Pendulum.
How to export visit data
- Go to Exports in Pendulum.
- Select the filters you want to apply.
- Use the date picker to choose a custom date range, if required.
- Choose the export type.
- Click Export Analysis to produce the export.
Export Trends
Use Export Trends to analyse Focus Visit data over time.
This can be useful if you use the same Focus Visit template across multiple terms, or if multiple visit records are created within the same term. The export allows you to compare the information entered across those visits and track changes over time.
Important: Only Focus Visits can be used for Export Trends. Other/Cluster Visits cannot be trended.
Before using Export Trends
For trend data to work across multiple terms, the same Focus Visit sections must be used across those terms.
If the Focus Visit structure changes each term, trend analysis is not possible because Pendulum cannot reliably compare the data across different section structures.
How to export trend data
- Go to Export Trends in Pendulum.
- Select the relevant filters, such as:
- Team
- Advisers
- Year
- Visit focus
- Choose the export type.
- Click Export Analysis to produce the export.
Keyword Search
Use Keyword Search to search visit records for a specific word or phrase.
This is useful when you need to find visits that mention a particular topic, theme, action, person or phrase.
Available filters
You can filter your search by options such as:
- Visit section
- Visit type
- Team
- Adviser
- Term
The options available in the User Groups and Adviser filters depend on your Pendulum access.
Keyword Search access
Standard users and Adviser users
Can only search within their own visit records.
Visit Managers and Pendulum Administrators
Can search for visits linked to a specific adviser or across all advisers.
How to search for a keyword
- Go to Keyword Search in Pendulum.
- Enter the keyword or phrase you want to search for.
- Select any filters you want to apply.
- Run the search.
Pendulum will check the available visit data and return any visits containing the keyword. The results will show basic visit details, such as:
- Visit date
- Adviser
- School
- The section where the keyword appears
- The full text containing the keyword
The keyword itself will be highlighted in the search results.
